Get Winter Ready – Dry Skin Staples ft. La Roche Posay and thePinkCowBrand

Best-dry-skin-remedies-during-winter Colostrum-Skin Cream-Review La Roche Posay Cicaplast

Tis the season of skin getting drier, irritated and rough…Don’t get me wrong, im excited about winter just as much as the next person, yes pumpkin spice lattes are great and the flicker of fairy lights all round the city are magical, but lets not forget the cutting wind, constant rain and freezing temperatures. My oily skin gets dehydrated in seconds due to central heating, dry patches mixed with irritated skin become a daily occurrence and my hands start getting touches of eczema. YAY!

Fortunately, there are a plethora of great products that are meant to protect and repair our skin from the environment. Firstly, let me introduce you to a new addition in my skincare routine: the Colostrum Nourishing Face Cream.

Colostrum is by the way, the first secretion from the bovine mammary glands after giving birth, very rich in antibodies. Yes, gross. And yes, its all over my face. Here is why: Starting up as a moisturiser designated for cancer patients and generally people who underwent surgeries, developed by doctors, thePinkCowBrand is an all natural, bio-active healing range of products. With 75% Colostrum content and no water added, The Cream will delay aging, regenerate, have an antimicrobial action and help speed up the healing process of your skin. It can be used on burns, insect bites, dermatitis, suture lines, open wounds, abscesses.

Texture wise is rich, similar to a cold cream – needs to be well massaged into the skin for a full absorption and it leaves a shine free finish. Not sure about you, but my biggest concern when finding out the main ingredient, was the smell factor. Luckily is lightly fragranced with Vanilla oil, so no nasty scents will linger on your face. It can be used on absolutely any body part, its child and pet(!) safe and its a great addition to your ’emergency’ bathroom cabinet. You can buy online here.

Another winter staple is the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. This is a yearly purchase for me, im delighted that they have released the travel size version so i can carry it around everywhere i go. This is an invaluable product if you get like me, chopped lips, dry nose and dermatitis/eczema on your hands (i’m such a catch!). I find that besides the healing properties, it makes and excellent barrier balm that will protect and prevent the future chopping.

Finally, the moment winter is installed, i become addicted to hot Epsom Salt filled baths. So relaxing, soothing and its a guarantee of dissolving any tension accumulated during the day. I buy in bulk from the pharmacy 10kg buckets and then use recycled Yankee Candle jars to store. Chic and practical at the same time!
