June Favorites: Ren, Smashbox, La Roche Posay, Clinique and By Terry

Irish Beauty Blog Irish Beauty Blogger Clinique Soft Matte Magenta Smashbox Full Exposure Palette By Terry Baume de Rose I haven’t done a favorites post is ages, i tend to have the same routine for months and im terrible at switching things up. The sunny weather and the proper start of summer, gave me a proper reason to shake my products in a quest of the perfect heat proof routine. And here they are, a few of my favorite things:

Skincare wise i turned back to the La Roche Posay Effaclar Mat* – a lightweight mattifying hydrator, with anti-humidity and shine properties. Slap this baby on and your oily skin will shine free for the entire day without that tight, uncomfortable feeling. Add a good SPF – i LOVE the Clinique Even Better SPF 45 Dark Spot Corrector (€38) and you are set for the day. The Even Better SPF 45 has a matte finish as well, slightly tinted that act well as a primer too. Because it evens out skin tone so well, i tend to go without foundation on days off and just wear it on its own. Make sure you shake it well before each use.

Twice a week i slap on the goddess of all face masks – the Ren Glycolic Acid Renewal Mask (€35). Its truly outstanding, the best buy of 2014 by far for me! Layer it on cleansed skin, leave it for 10 minutes and voila fresh, smooth, radiant skin! Because of the glycolic acid, it melts away the layer of dead skin cells revealing a glowing complexion. Can’t live without and its currently buy one, get one half price in Clerys Dublin!

For the last few weeks i have been trialing out the new The Body Shop Tee Tree Flawless BB Cream in 02* Medium (€13.50). Again, aimed at oily combo skin gals like myself this BB has tea tree extract added to fight blemishes and keep the skin shine free.

The Smashbox Full Exposure palette (€43) was the go to eyeshadow of choice for every day and going out wear. Some love it, some hate it – i like. The mattes are great, i find the color choice and quality outstanding in all Smashbox eyeshadows and the whole brand in general is great. The shimmers or better said the glitters are more fiddly to get used too. If you try them on with a brush you will get fallout and not much texture payout – if you do it Lovelygirlybits way and apply it with the fingers you will like them more and more. You will get that foil glittery effect, great for nights out.

My lips are the most pampered face part lately as the By Terry Baume de Rose* (€45) entered my life, courtesy of Space NK Dublin. I never owned such a luxurious lip balm ever! From the elegant packaging to the delicate rose scent and pink tint….my lips are in heaven. I get now whats the whole fuss about, i just need to work out a way of re-purchasing without my husband divorcing me. This baby is expensive!

Clinique made me the happiest girl when they launched the Clinique Long Lasting Soft Matte Lipsticks (€23)! Long wear – check! Punchy, on trend color – check! Matte – check! Comfortable – double check! I still love my Mac lipsticks but they can really suck out all the moisture from my lips and leave them in bits if they are not properly prepared before hand. Magenta (fucsia pink) is the first color i picked up, Mandarin (coral orange) is a daily work choice and i working my way to get Beauty and Peony on my next pay day.

Looking back, i should probably rename my post to ‘heat proof, long lasting beauty products’ as everything seems to fight the humidity and protect from shine. My oily skin it gets crazy in the summer, but hey i ain’t complaining!

I was undecided between the Clinique SPF and the new Benefit one and I went for Benefit… I love it, but now I really want to try the Clinique too because from your review it sounds amazing!

Haven’t tried the Benefit one so cant compare, but i really like the Even Better. Its light and weightless, doesnt feel like an old school sunscreen.

Same with the Benefit one, give it a couple of minutes to dry and you can’t feel it at all! I’ll let you know how they compare if I decide to try the Clinique too 😉

Thank you girls, im seriously considering doing a photography course because of all your kind words!

Sinead, knowing your collection you probably don’t need it but again, it is pretty and kinda a bargain at €43 + Boots points :). Karen has a few videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUJ3fMtRleI) on the palette, she made me buy it!
