Situated in a breathtaking mountain scenery, Sinaia is located just an hour and a half (aprox 120km) away from Bucharest, the capital city of Romania. Known as the Carpathian Pearl, the cosy sky and hiking resort Sinaia used to be the summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family, housing the stunning Peles Castle. We decided to make a quick road trip with the family before we left, to enjoy tasty traditional food and create wonderful memories.

We lunched in the rustic Kuib Restaurant and im still reminiscing about the delicious food, with only €80 five of us feasted on everything our hearts desired. Great value and cant recommend enough the food and the service. Because we were so stuffed, we choose to burn some calories before indulging in some coffee and cakes in the four stars Montana Hotel, a great choice if you fancy something more modern and elegant.

I recommend wholeheartedly to everyone to visit the mountain resorts in Romania, the scenery is only stunning and the value is outstanding for the services you receive. We are already planning our next trips, i traveled a lot with my parents as a child and have great memories about our holidays and feel the need to rediscover my country with an adult eye. A special thanks to my sister Stephanine for organizing everything for us, it was just perfect.

Oh my god, those buildings! Absolutely beautiful.

I always wanted to go to Romania. My childhood besto was from there (can’t remember which part, but I don’t think it was a big city) and used to come back to Ireland with gorgeous pictures. And, oddly, blocks of salt – I think a saltmine was a big attraction near her? Anyway, she told me that Romania has the best watermelons in the world and they’re the first things I have to eat if I ever go. Totally forgot about that wanderlust until I saw this post!
