A Few Of My Favorite Things

Irish Beauty Blog I love reading Monthly Beauty favorites posts and as much as i would love to do them every month, i just seem to forget or to have the same favorites a couple of consecutive months. So from time to time, i will just do a roundup of things i love – being beauty, fashion or the latest meal i’ve enjoyed.

B E A U T Y

ST Moritz Prep and Prime Exfoliant For the last few months, when it comes to skincare and general beauty regime, im all about oils and nourishing cremes. I seem to be forever dehydrated and need extra help to combat dryness. This, plus the panic of having to show some unpolished skin for summer is getting to me.

Lucy Annabelle Adore Bath Oil Ive been looking for a nice body exfoliant to use before tanning or shaving, i have a gorgeous Rituals sugar one but because its so rich in oils it breaks down my tan and clogs my shaving blade. Last week i’ve attended the launch of the new Pro range from St. Moritz and one of the new products was a Skin Primer*. Primer seems to be the new fancy way of calling an exfoliant and im not gonna lie, i kinda like it. I love that it preps the skin before shaving, getting rid of the dead cells and creating the perfect smooth finish for tanning. Its a no fuss, no bells and whistles body exfoliant, highly affordable and easy to get your hands on (you can find it in Penneys).

The Adore Organic Treatment Oil* from Lucy Annabella is a new addition to my body oil collection. I just love the feel and smell of luxurious oils on the skin and there’s no better way of getting rid of dryness. Have a warm bath, exfoliate and then pamper your body with the rich in Patchouli and Ylang Ylang body oil, making sure you are taking your time and inhaling deeply the aromas. Your body and mind will thank you! You can find the Lucy Annabella products in AVOCA shops, i got a sample of the bath milk and im in love.

I finally repurchased my all time favorite hair oil – the Morrocan Oil in the Light version for fine, light colored hair. I just cant fault this product: from the fresh smell, practical packaging and of course, the power to transform my over processed frizzy hair into a smooth, manageable mane.

Lastly, the Lacura Hydro Urea Foot Cream from Aldi has been a revelation. Ill be honest, im a beauty snob and i wouldn’t ever put an Aldi cream on my face. However, when Aisling McDermott tweeted about the Lacura Foot Cream praising its benefits, i just had to get it. And she wasn’t wrong to recommend it: just after one, the skin on my feet was transformed from dry and horrible to smooth and nourished. If you are ever in the Beauty section in Aldi, grab one. You wont regret it.

For the last four weeks ive made a conscious decision to eat more plant based foods and go gluten free in an attempt to recharge my body after winter and pregnancy and to lose weight. The gluten free option is not a hipster whim, i have underactive thyroid and it helps me manage my condition better. Apparently the thyroid perceives gluten as an antibody and continues to attack itself. All i know is that if im eating normal bread or pasta for a couple of days i feel horribly low, my brows start falling out and my levels are soaring. I don’t know about the recharging yet, i just got some blood tests done and waiting for the results, but i do know about the losing weight part. Spoiler alert: i haven’t lost a pound. Can anybody sponsor a liposuction for me? Im almost four months post partum and not a pound lost.

Anyway i digress. I have discovered a new healthy place for salads after seeing Rosermary MacCabe Facebook post – Sprout & Co. Its just AMAZING! Fresh, gluten free salads, wraps or cold pressed juices its the perfect place to start any health kick. My favorite thing to order its the Guacamole salad with added Falafel – it has to be the most delicious thing ive had in my life. I need to try the Baby Kale Caesar Salad too, but too addicted to diverse. If you are in town, check it out.

ZARA TRF espadrilles Anybody who knows me or reads this blog knows that i live in Converse. They seem to go with everything and are so comfortable for everyday life. But even I got bored of the same old pair so i looked out for a nice pair of espadrilles for summer. Initially i wanted Toms, toyed with the idea for a while but decided they are too pricey. So i turned to Zara, as i always do and found the most perfect pair of light canvas espadrilles. They have a faux leather cap on the front, which means they don’t get dirty easily and you’re not gonna see your toes shaping. Honestly the best €20 i ever spent! Link here they have them in snake print too.

So there you have it, my latest favorites. Do you like this format more or do you prefer classic Beauty only faves? Do let me know.

That salad looks flipping amazing! I’ve been considering cutting out gluten, meat and dairy for a while now because I’ve just been feeling so crappy as well! Loved this post, it got me all excited for the summer for some reason 🙂

Loved reading about your favorites. I feel the same about favorites posts which is why I’ve yet to post one. I’m just so sure that it’ll be the same thing month after month. I jotted down the foot cream. I’m going to have to see if I can track it down. I seriously had no idea that Aldi even had a beauty section.

Yes, my beauty choices don’t change that much from month to month which kinda sucks when you are supposed to be a beauty blogger :). Do try the foot cream, very inexpensive but SO good.

I picked up the foot cream yesterday on your recommendation, but haven’t tried it yet. They had a corresponding hand cream I grabbed as well, and that one I already tested and really liked.
And about the weight… I feel you. I still have 7 kg to go until my pre-baby weight (and 15 kg until I am where I felt the most comfortable, lol).
