Despite being a high end gal at heart, lately the high street new beauty releases have really won me over. Honestly in the last few months, new release after release, i found great new brands and products that made their way in my daily makeup routine. I don’t like everything i get sent, as ungrateful at it sounds, sometimes the color can be wrong, the texture or skin type aimed at, or i simply don’t like the product.

The first notable brand that impressed me has been, pun intended, NOTE Cosmetics. I have tried a couple of products from them, after seeing them featured by Sinead and Karen, both of them singing its praises and they haven’t disappoint. My two highlights have been the NOTE Luminous Moisturizing Foundation SPF 15 and the NOTE Terracotta Powder in Stardust.
When it comes to foundation i love full coverage, long lasting textures so i didn’t have any great expectations for the Luminous Moisturizing Foundation. Seeing the name, i imagined it to be a sheer, light and dewy, similar to Armani Luminous Silk for example. Instead, when i tried it, i got delivered a gorgeous creamy formula, that erased instantly any imperfections whilst remained intact for the day. I did however used a primer and powder to set, as i do with any other foundation. For reference my skin is oily combination so any base has to work overtime to stay on my skin.
The second favorite from NOTE has been the Terracotta Powder in Stardust. Gorgeous golden beige highlighter, that gives the most natural and flattering sheen on the skin. For me its a must have this summer, dusted on my cheeks, collar bone and shoulders – it just looks so good on. The baked type formula feels buttery to touch and yet sheer and creamy on the skin, I think i need more shades in my collection.
You can find NOTE in selected pharmacies, i need to find a counter in store and do some swatches and get a slightly lighter shade in the Moisturizing Foundation – my press sample was 04 Sand, which is great when i have a tan but necessitates a bit of too much work if im pale. My next two purchases are going to be the BB Cream and the Mineral Compact Powder, Karen has been talking so much about them, that im convinced i need them too.

Speaking of cheeks, the NYX Sweet Cheeks Palette hasn’t left my cheekbones since i got it sent to me in March. Its everything that one might need when it comes to blush: a great selection of matte and satin finishes, eight fabulous shades that pretty much cover every single look, from bright orange to baby pink. It is frankly incredible!
I have retired most of my single blushes, part some highlighters because i have every shade i need in one compact, perfect palette. It will save lots of room for traveling and holidays, so make sure you check it out when you are out and about.

I used to have a similar concealing palette from Catrice (see my review here) that i loved, so when i went to Boots for a browse i just had to get it. This a pre foundation concealing palette, long lasting and full coverage that promises to erase all signs of fatigue. I use it on a well primed and moisturized skin, with a damp Beauty Blender: first i add some Purple under my eyes to conceal my heavy duty dark circles and a pesky vein that just has to show and then spot conceal with the first concealing shade in the palette. Dab, dab, dab with the Beauty Blender – never rub or move the product – and apply the foundation base on top. If you have redness, the Green will help conceal and neutralize.
Its a great nifty product to have in your handbag for touch ups too, my skin is light medium so if pushed i can use one of the medium beige in the concealer palette for touch up around my nose and mouth. The only drawback is that the three concealing beige shades, can be dark a really fair skin, in which case do give the Catrice version a try as it comes in two color versions.

Im a disaster when it comes to my nails, i rarely paint them because im either too lazy or too tired. However, when i do paint them, i gravitated towards the Wet’n’Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel in Stay Classy – a gorgeous, shiny mushroom taupe. I adore the formula, its glossy, long lasting and perfectly opaque with just two coats. Ive seen a beautiful blue on Mags that i need to copy and maybe a glamorous red.
Would love to hear what are your favorite pharmacy/high street beauty buys, im hooked now to the Boots aisles!
