Kids First Ballet Class: What to Wear Tips with the Ballerina Store

This is a very self indulging post, i have to admit. I have been waiting for this day since i knew that we were expecting a little girl. The first ballet class! And everything that it entails. Pink tutus, cardigans and leotards. Ballet pumps. Ballerina top knots! Im honestly at my peak toddler fashion happiness.

Sophia will be starting her first trial with Prima Ballet classes this Saturday. Im having everything crossed that she will love it. We decided on a ballet class because of her insistence actually. She kept mentioning she loves dancing and was copying the ballerina moves she’s seen in cartoons. We just had to make it happen.

We narrowed down the ballet schools to Prima Ballet mainly because they came highly recommended. Also they offer a free trial class to see if the little one loves it. Which i think is brilliant! After the class, if you decide your child wants to go further, you can pay a registration fee and reserve their place in whatever term is applicable. You can find details on prices and terms here.

After we decided on a ballet school, the fun part has begun. Sorting out the outfit! I have to mention that for the free trial there’s no need to buy any specific clothes. A t-shirt and leggings is just fine. However if you want to book a place and start the course, a specific outfit is needed.

Before making a purchases, it is best to check with your studio as to its dress code. It can depend on child’s age or dance proficiency. For small children and toddlers new to ballet, there will be no need for pointe shoes for instance. Pointe is taught to more advanced students and it comes further down the line.

I would love to hear feedback regarding ballet classes if your little ones have attended any. Sophia is at such a lovely age where she is enjoying extra activities. We are thinking to incorporate swimming at some point. Exciting times ahead!
