Dinner Date in The Morrisson Grill

The Morrison Restaurant The Morrison Hotel Dublin On Saturday, me and my hubby decided to take advantage of a voucher i won in work a while ago, and go for our date in The Morrison Hotel Grill. Because i don’t usually have a whole weekend off, when i do ,we try to make it special and spend some well deserved quality time together. A long walk, dinner and a movie was bound to erase some of the stress, recharge and uplift the spirit.

I tried to glam it up with my makeup and hair, by putting some of the Sleep in Rollers the night before for some volume and gently teezed the roots for extra lift. I have tried the rollers before when they just went out and didn’t really like them – my hair was way too long. Now, my layers are just perfect to style in some bouncy waves.

We usually try to walk into town to build an appetite, so my outfit was very casual: skinny black Topshop jeans, Zara checked shirt with my new Mango polka dot sweater on top and a comfortable white Converse pair. Nothing exciting to document!

Wrights Scallops Starter The Morrison

My starter consisted of Wrights Scallops on a bed of potato mash, crispy pancetta, tomato dressing – all served on fancy huge shells. Delicious!

Salmon and Crab starter The Morrison Mr had the Salmon & Crab – cured Irish salmon, Liscannor crab, pinenuts, green olive with ruby grapefruit. The flavors were amazing: the bitter sweet grapefruit enhanced the smoky flavor of the salmon while the crab paste added a mild satisfying texture.

The Josper Filet Main The Morrison For mains we both got the Josper fillet steak – served with duck fat potato, confit shallot, mushroom duxelle with garlic butter and peppercorn sauce on the side. Just look at the size of it! It was cooked to perfection, medium and juicy just melting in the mouth. Im glad i didn’t ask for a side of Parmesan fries and just engorged in the meat feast. After this, i guarantee you’ll need to pop a jeans button or two(!).

Panna Cotta Dessert The Morrison Mr’s dessert choice: Vanilla Panna Cotta with mulled strawberries, strawberry sorbet, blackpepper tuile. Light and refreshing, just what you need after a heavy meal.

Salted Caramel Dessert The Morrison Me on the other hand, went for the Salted Caramel Dark chocolate & salted caramel crémeux, roast banana ice cream, peanut crumble. Just orgasmic. I mean really, i could’ve died happily after this. Rich, indulging yet light and aery, if you are nearby the Morrison and feel like treating yourself just try the Salted Caramel. You will not be disappointed!

Dinner in The Morrison The service was immaculate, i have to give a shout out to the lovely staff working there – we were treated like royalty. Actually, all the guests around us were. Funny, lighthearted and efficient they made the whole dinner experience a 5* one. Truly recommend!

Dublin Dublin at night Culture Night in Dublin The Gaiety Dublin Our cinema choice was ” with Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth. Because i have read the book first, i already knew the movie movie plot so the ending wasn’t unexpected. The action seemed rushed and they just brushed on the important parts – it was one of the classic ‘the book was better’ experience, although the actors were brilliant.

Overall, if you haven’t read the book, see it – you will love it. If you did read it, you will be left disappointed. At least i have been.

Your meal looks delicious! I’ve read the book as well so am wary about the film, i’ve heard it’s not as good alright! Lovely photos, as always! x
