Lancome L’Absolu Nu Lipstick

Seems that for spring 2011, all the major cosmetic companies decided to release a new shiny and glossy lipstick: Lancome has L’Absolu Nu, Chanel has Rouge Coco Shine and Dior just came out with a fresh range of Addict Shine. The general idea behind it all is fresh, nude lips, full of shine and volume suitable for casual, day to day wear.

Lancome launched a couple of weeks ago the long awaited L’Absolu Nu Rouge as an replacement to their Color Fever and Color Fever Shine lipsticks, which have been discontinued so grab your favorite shade while you can ladies, when their gone, their gone!

L’Absolu Nu is available in 12 nude shades, divided in three categories to match perfectly every lip tone varying from light shades to slightly brighter. Red tone lips – 101,102,103, beige tone – 201,202,203,204,205 and pink tone lips – 301, 302, 303 and 304.

Myself, I have pink tone lips so i got the 302 shade (Voile de Rose) which is a slightly berry pink.

The packaging is sleek and elegant and what i love the most is the magnetic top, which means no spills in your handbag. Once i ruined the interior of a lovely little going out bag, because the top of my red lipstick decided to detach.

Texture wise, i like a lot as well: looks like a lipstick, but applies like a gloss! Its not sticky or heavy, i can barely feel it on the lips. Deliveres a sheer to medium coverage, depending on how much you want to apply.

My lips look and feel hydrated and have a very natural shine, the whole idea is to enhance the natural tone and give the bare lip sensation.

 * A little pout for the camera *

The color is brighter in real life (think berry pink), although I have taken the photo in natural light,  my camera still manages to fade the colors.  Dear Easter Bunny i want  need an SLR please…

All i need now is the 202 shade (juicy peach-coral) and im ready for spring!

RRP. 25.00 euro

    Hi Neats,

Lancome just caters for different markets, for example it’s a completely different range in Asia where you can buy loads of whitening products. Most of the time, the colors are the same in the lipsticks but under different names.

In Ireland and UK, Kate wears shade 301. You might try to find it online, hope it helps.

Hi Im new to your site 🙂
I had a question somewhat similar to the last one..
I got really confused when I saw the lancome lipsticks where I live, are different from the ones I see online…
So apparently there are diferent lipsticks for Europe and USA.. why?? I have no idea, but I’m really confused. I suppose you’re not from America either 😉
I saw MichellePhan (makeup artist on youtube) using one in her videos called Rose Veil, and I got in love with that lipstick and decided to check it out.. I went today, and there was no such name.. Unfortunately I didn’t remember the number.. But seeing those here, I liked the Voile de Rose, but didnt get it..

Now I see on the net, that Rose Veil is number 346, and Voile de Rose is 302.. Are they the same lipsticks?
Why is it like this, different shades different numbers?
Are 346 and 302 much diferent, and should I get the Voile de Rose?
Also can you recommend me a pretty peachy color from lancome? I tried few but didnt like them much since they were too light

    thank you 🙂

Hi Kristie, thank you for your comment.

I’m not from America, i live in Ireland and from my experience the shades and products are sometimes different from a continent to another. I suppose its due to different skin pigmentation, culture and so on. I’m sure Lancome does loads of market research before releasing a new collection.

The trouble is that i dont know the names of the lipsticks, but i believe Rose Veil is not the same as Voile Rose. Im not familiar with the differences between them so im not much help.

There are loads of nice peaches in L’Absolu Nu, unfortunately a bit on the sheer side like you mentioned. A nice shade that im coveting about is in the original L’Absolu- no 45 (lovely coral/peachy tone great for summer). It is a bit bright, would look lovely with a tan :), ill check the name and let you know.

Sorry i couldnt be of much help x

Thank you for your fast reply Andreea! 🙂
Don’t worry, you helped me enough.
I think Rose Veil (like in Michelles video as I mentioned) is pretty similar with the one I tried – Voile Rose.. If you compare them with pictures, they are pretty the same, pink lipsticks.
(lol, when I said lipstick and also you mentioned that you’re from Ireland, I remembered your Eurovision song :D)

And the names are similar. I think hey are pretty much the same, just with diferent names..though very similar.. 🙂
I’m also going to try the 101, 201, 202 and 303. Theese seem kinda coral 😀 I want to buy one coral and one pink lpstick (don’t need to be lancome)
    http://it.paperblog.com/lancome-l-absolu-nu-lipstick-396694/
Too bad we don’t have the same shades like in America..

I also tried some dior lipsticks, but I found them kinda too glossy, Idk, and also I didnt find a nice shade for me.. there was a nice natural though that looks good on me Now, but when I get ten it probably wont be much noticible :/
Could you recommend me a nice coral lipstick, something like lancome ones, not too dry or glossy, also very light..
And also, do you think the 203 is a good choice, since the price you know, is not very great, but I want to give myself a treat 🙂

Sorry for the long comment 😛 🙂

    Hi Kristie, how are you?

I was just thinking about the Dior lipsticks, love their gel texture but as you said they can be quite glossy. Chanel has out their Rouge Coco Shine, which i like as well.

Have you tried Mac or Nars? They tend to be on trend all the time with seasonal colors. Ooh and Revlon has some really nice shades at the moment, unfortunately i don’t know the names/no i just spotted them in the shops.

To be honest, at the end of the day doesn’t really matter what no of lipstick you get as long as it suits you best. Good luck with your choice x

PS. I know “lipstick” lol like the song though 🙂

    Hi 🙂

I haven’t tried Mac or Nars because those brands aren’t sold where I live, as well as Chanel 🙁 Yes, I agree on that, Revlon has really nice corals, I have to get a nice coral lipstick these days 😛

    True..
I was thinking, and Im still thinking on getting a lancome lipstick but damn they are too expensive…Im just asking myself, and others, is it worth it?
If I tell a friend that Ill buy a lancome lipstick, they’d be like “are you crazy?”
Im not some spoiled girl that lives on a high leg as we say, but since Im not that much in to make-up, like I dont have tons of make-up home, and I haven’t bought some in a looong long time, I would like to treat myself now for the summer… 🙂
Plus, with the money spent for lancome lipstick I could buy like 3-4 lipsticks.. :S I don’t know really..

p.s I liked your song too, energetic performance 🙂 I didn’t like the winners song though.
Oh and you know the country Macedonia? Its a small country in southeast Europe. We actually had a game few days ago, I think it was last Saturday.. Macedonia – Ireland… well, I’m from Macedonia 🙂
And congrats for the win!! 😀
    Cheers 🙂

    Hi Kristie,

Regarding your question if the Lancome lipstick is worth it, yes the quality is very good but, if it’s too expensive for your budget at the moment i would choose a cheaper alternative. You have plenty of time to try high end products and maybe treat yourself to a more affordable choice.

L’oreal Paris does great lipsticks and amazing shades, Rimmel and Gosh as well. Have fun trying some.

Of course i know Macedonia :). I’m just living in Ireland, i’m Romanian 🙂
