Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez has debuted in 2020 and it has taken the beauty world by storm. Launched during the pandemic and during the rise of Tik Tok popularity, it seems that the affordable, fun makeup brand was launched at right time. Fresh skin, easy makeup looks and chic packaging – Rare Beauty in a nutshell.
Being an older millennial, Ive never been into Selena Gomez the artist as much as i am into her beauty brand. No shade here, its just that i haven’t grown up with her Disney shows or her music as much as a Gen Z has. However, when it comes to her beauty products – i’m hooked!

It took me three years to actually get to try some of the products. I’ve resisted at first, lately every month there’s a celebrity launching a new beauty line. And its hard to navigate through all the noise and see what’s actually worth trying. After watching countless ‘get ready with me’ Rare Beauty videos on social media and seeing everyone raving about the products, i was convinced. The products have an unique edge – have you seen the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush swatches? Formulas are high end and pigmented. And the price point affordable.
What i didn’t expect though, was that it was nearly impossible to actually make a purchase due to supply issues. No joke, it took me nearly four months to be able to make an order. Initially i wanted to treat myself to some Rare Beauty products for Christmas. Well, it felt like i won the lotto when i placed my order in March! 1. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush
The liquid blush was no 1 on my Rare Beauty wish list. And it didn’t disappoint! Just look at that pigment. Not for the faint hearted, the tiniest dot will deliver a beautiful flush of color. I seem to gravitate towards the Dewy formulas, a radiant glow of color that looks beautiful on the cheeks.
2. Rare Beauty Silky Touch Highlighter
After a lot of pondering, i went with the shade Exhilarate. A creamy champagne color, that gives an almost gloss shine sheen. Absolutely stunning.
3. Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer
A super easy way to contour and add warmth to the skin. I went with the lightest shade Power Boost and its been a great choice for my Light Medium skin. It blends easily and it makes contouring a breeze. Im coveting the shade Happy Sol for summer.
4. Positive Light Under Eye Brightener
Another product that absolutely sparks joy is the Positive Light Under Eye Brightener. I went with shade Light Medium and it makes a real difference when i apply it on top of my concealer. The cooling applicator is great and a little dot of product makes a big difference.
5. Positive Light Liquid Luminizer
The shade Mesmerize – a rose gold pink – is just what my makeup collection needed. A dot on the high points of the face, gives the most beautiful glow and sheen. It can be mixed with the Soft Pinch Blush for a more highlighted look or used under/ over foundation. A must have shade.
