For you to understand how I`m choosing my moisturizer I will tell you a bit about myself. I`m 25, normal/combination skin without any specific problems so you can say that I am fortunate enough. So usually I am looking for products designed for first lines, mild anti-aging effect and plenty of antioxidants. Of course, it has to have UVA/UVB protection.
In the last year I have become a fan of serums too. They really make a difference and I find them more concentrated then a normal moisturizer.
Long story short, this is the moisturizing routine (day time):
La Roche Posay Dermaox
La Roche Posay it`s a dermocosmetic range, made in France and based on thermal spa water enriched naturally with selenium (antioxidant). The whole range is designed for the most sensitive skin and usually dermatologist refer patients to this products because they are highly effective for acne, dermatitis or atopic skin. There is even a Spa in France where people can get treatment for different affections.
The products have minimum of preservatives, some of them paraben and fragrance free and they are based on one or two active ingredients in high concentration. All of the moisturizers are formulated in three categories : Light (normal/combination skin), Rich (dry skin) and XL which means that the product is for all types of skin and has UVA/UVB protection added.
La Roche Posay Dermaox Range is the latest added to the antiaging line, it comes to fill the space of Active C Wrinkle Corrector wich has been discontinued. To be honest I have tried the Active C XL moisturizer and eye cream before and I didnt like it at all. The moisturizer felt to heavy and it gave me little bumps under the skin (i dont know how to explain better), my skin felt dehydrated and slightly irritated. The eye cream was bad for me as well, it gave me itchy eyes aldo i applied it correctly on the bone (not in the eye!). Both products ended in the bin after 2 weeks not even half used. I believe this happened because of high concentration of Vitamin C (5%) in the cream and maybe it was just to strong for me. I had many good reviews about the Active C from customers, but for me it just didn`t work.
Now lets go back to Dermaox. The range consists of 3 products : Dermaox Anti-oxidant Serum , moisturizer for normal/combination skin and moisturizer for dry skin. It can be used from 25 years upwards, it has antiaging effect for first lines and it is just packed with antioxidants
- Slows the skin aging process – inhibits the glycation process by 33%³, Reduces oxidative stress (oxidation) by 49%
- Smoothes wrinkles – 77% of test patients demonstrated a significant reduction in the appearance of crow’s feet wrinkles
- Restores radiance – 90% of test patients demonstrated a significant improvement in skin’s radiance
- Paraben-free, non-comedogenic
- Hypoallergenic fragrance
I have been using the serum and the moisturizer for normal/combination skin for the last month now and my verdict is : I LOVE IT!!! Yes, i truly and utterly do love this range, i have seen a difference in the condition of my skin from the first application. The recommendation is to use the serum and moisturizer twice a day but i just do it in the morning time, as i use a different range for the night-time ( I know, I`m a product junkie!).
The serum has a very light texture as most serums do, it slightly orange-colored and has a fresh smell. It is absorbed instantly into the skin without heaviness or oily feeling and the skin`s texture is just transformed. The radiance is restored and the complexion has a silky feeling. I place this serum on the same place as the more expensive Lancome Primordiale Serum (will talk about this on another post).
The moisturizer is very light as well, rapidly absorbed and has UVA/UVB protection. The fragrance is light and fresh, it’s a good makeup base and your face will not shine thru the day.
Bottom line: my radiance is improved and the texture of the skin is a lot smoother, this is all i wanted. I always had problems with my skin texture – it appears ok, but when touched you can feel little bumps (again dont know how to explain this – it’s not retentional acne). Also the foundation sits a lot better and i don`t need any other primers underneath.
