You might remember my love affair with the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet earlier this spring (see the post here). They are soft, matte, punchy cream lipsticks that last all day and deliver gorgeous colors for your lips. Of course they became an instant hit, the quality is exceptional so it was time for new shades to join the collection.
My favorite shade is of course the Nude-ist – a great matte, neutral pink that looks great on a day to day basis. I always like to play more with my eyes rather than lips, so its always handy to find a lip color that would suit most looks.
Grand Cru is definitely a night time look! Vampy burgundy red, i need some major guts to sport this baby outside the comfort of my own home. It will look amazing during the winter, i can envision it with chunky knits, pale skin and black eyeliner flicks.
NB. Make sure your lips are soft and conditioned before as the matte texture tends to cling on dry patches. Im still using my Elizabeth Arden 8H lip balm for intensive emergencies.
I am very pleased to see the new Contour Clubbing Waterproof Pencils in a wider selection – very soft, creamy and easy to smudge. The waterproof formula makes them great for the waterline, i find strong colors work better there for a pop of color.
I was sent the shade Dynamint – a strong green turquoise. I have to admit that the neutral fanatic in me got a bit scared, im not one to go for colors specially when it comes to bright greens or blues. I made it work with a mixture of Inglot eyeshadows (see my palette here) – i blended a cream all over the lid and added definition with a rusty golden brown. Under the eye i added a matte violet to enhance the turquoise.
As for the rest of my face, i’ve rediscovered my love for Mac Studio Fix Foundation, lightly powdered with a Stila transparent compact. Im so obsessed with this powder that i have already hit pan after two months, it is AMAZING for a soft airbrushed look whilst keeping the skin shine free. Concealer of choice is still my third time repurchased Maybelline Age Rewind concealer (review here).
