For the last few weeks i have been shopping the sales on the lookout for pampering, luxurious skincare treats that will kick start my maternity leave in style. I was looking out for new things to try, basically treating myself to all the cult products i have been reading about and never tried. Im planning to enjoy these last few weeks left of my pregnancy, relax and de stress because realistically i will probably wont have any time for ‘home spa’ treatments after our baby comes. The calm before the storm if you like :).
Aromatherapy Associates Travel Size Bath Oils| Roger & Gallet Christmas Cracker*
Whats a winter pampering session without a long, hot soak in the bath? I was dreaming of these Aromatherapy Associates Travel Size Bath Oils since last Christmas and they finally made their way to me. Its such a good mix of essential oils – relaxing ones, energizing, de-stressing or sleep enhancer so i thought its a good opportunity to try the range before committing to a full sized bottle. Before you ask, of course i’ve checked with my GP if im allowed to use them and the general consensus was moderation is key, a few drops will be fine. If you are pregnant and have allergies to lavender or other natural ingredients, just make sure you check with your doctor first!
The Roger & Gallet Cracker is such a cute treat: you get a sample size of the Sublime Hand Cream 30ml and perfume vial in the Bois D’Orange scent. An excellent hand bag addition for just €6.50, see my full review here.
Rituals Sakura Spring Gift Set
It seems that getting a Rituals Body Care Set in Arnotts has become a Christmas tradition, if last year i went for the detoxing Hamman Set – this year i choose the delicate Sakura Spring with Cherry Blossom and Rice Milk.
As usual i went for the big set, for only €55 i got a huge box filled with full sized treats: foaming shower oil, body scrub, shower foam, ultra rich body cream and a lovely body spray that can be used on bed linen too. The body scrub is one of the best i’ve used, a mixture of nourishing oil mixed with sugar granules for an ultra moisturizing exfoliation. Followed up by the rich, yet whipped to perfection body cream that locks in moisture and leaves the softest skin behind. The shower experience has never felt better.
Kiehls Midnight Recovery| Clinique Turnaround Revitalizing Oil| Emma Hardie Cleansing Face Cloths
Oils are my treatment products of choice during winter, they are the best way to lock in moisture and restore elasticity to the skin. I had my heart set on the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate for the longest time, its been praised everywhere i look and promises to transform the skin overnight. I waited for the Black Friday promotion that Kiehl’s stores have every year and after availing of the 20% off discount, i was the proud owner of a Midnight Recovery Set (and other bestselling products, but thats another post).
During the day im using the Clinique Turnaround Revitalising Oil, one of the only oils on the market that exfoliates the skin and promotes a glowing, radiant complexion. Im not going to get out as much in the next few weeks, so oiling up my face morning and evening is not a problem. Besides, the Turnaround Oil is a dry oil which means its not greasy or heavy so i can easily pop some makeup on top.
Because for cleansing im using the Clinique Take The Day Off Balm (yes, more oil!), i wanted to try the highly recommended Emma Hardie Cleansing Cloths. Karen from LovelyGirlieBits.com swears by them and i needed to see what was all the fuss about. For €19 you get 3 face cloths: dual faced, one side a soft towel texture for buffing and the other a muslin type for exfoliation. So far so good, im alternating them with my usual Liz Earle cloths.
