January Favorites

It has been a while since i’ve done a Favorites Round-up, i always enjoy reading or watching monthly faves yet somehow i always seem to miss the momentum and actually do one of my own. Hence my January Favorites are published on the 9th of February. Better late than never, right?

I spent most of my January indoors, mainly because we were all sick taking turns who can cough the most and going trough some nasty stomach bugs. Hey, i lost almost all the baby weight because of it, so every cloud.

Bar a few occasions when i wore a full on face of makeup, i ignored the winged eyeliner in favor of the Kiss Luxury Eye Crayon in Hazelnut* – a gorgeous taupe with golden fine shimmer going trough. I loved that it was so easy to apply – slap it on the lids and smudge it with your fingers or a brush, if you feel fancy. It stayed on all day long which to be honest, it never happens with cream formulations. Sometimes i would add a powder eye shadow in the outer corners of the eye to create more depth, but most days i would just leave it the way it was.

I used every single drop of the new Uriage Isofill Creme*– the texture was a light cream gel, perfect for daytime. Isofill is meant to help smooth out lines and wrinkles and whilst i cant say ive noticed a major difference in my skin, i certainly enjoyed using it.

Because i started dabbing into the Chemical Peels territory with my Bravura London regime (see my review here), i need to be more aware of my sun protection. Also the Uriage doesn’t have an SPF, so a separate one was mandatory. I bought the Zelens Daily Defence SPF 30 in SpaceNK after reading raving reviews on Caroline Hirrons blog. Believe the hype, the lotion is light weight, with a shine free finish and seems to do a great job under my makeup base.

Speaking of makeup base – the new formulated Clinique Superbalanced Silk is wonderful for a natural, day to day makeup look. Silk is the key attribute, it seems to just glide over any imperfection, flawlessly covering yet remaining lightweight. It balances the oily zones by lightly mattifying and hydrates where the skin needs a bit more moisture. Its simply fantastic! My shade is 08 Silk Canvas: a neutral tone, not pink nor yellow, perfect for a fair complexion. Try it.

Having a baby means im washing my hands a million times more than i would usually. Which seemed to trigger a touch of eczema on my hands, that makes them look about a million years older than they actually are. Ive been using the Hand Chemistry cream for months now and its wonderful. I am at my third tube, i usually stalk Boots and buy it in bulk whenever there is an offer. I just apply it at bedtime and by morning, my hands recover and any dryness is resolved.

For the first time in years, my New Year Resolution didn’t involve any ‘loose x kg’, quit sugar, fat, carbs etc. Instead, my goal for 2017 is to learn how to cook nice meals for my family and to be healthy. Cooking is going swimmingly well thanks to my new Slow Cooker. If its wrong to be in love with a pot, then i don’t want to be right! Stews, parmesan chicken, chili con carne… just call me Chef Andreea.

In January i finally got the chance to get my moneys worth from my Netflix subscription. Three new shows marked my month as faves: Black Mirror, Frequency and The Santa Clarita Diet. Supernatural, mystery, serial killers and Drew Barrymore as a funny flesh eating zombie. Whats not to like!

Thank you for reading! x
