Small Bathroom Decor Ideas | My Bathroom Before and After

When we bought our home last year, the very first thing that i wanted to take apart was the main bathroom. I was searching long and high for bathroom ideas for small spaces and i had a fair idea of what i wanted to have done. My bathroom is quite small but i think with some clever storage ideas i managed to create a very functional family bathroom.

Leaving the esthetic behind, there were initially some important functional features that had to be added to the bathroom: replace the linoleum on the floor with tiles and fix a rather large hole between the toilet and the tub, replace the cracked tub, add an electric shower, replace the cracked toiled, change the radiator. So with all this, we might’ve as well re do the whole thing.

We opted for white subway style tiles on the walls and grey marble effect ones for the floor. I love the look and the brightness they add to the room, but in retrospect i wish i would’ve went with something different on the floor, maybe some colorful tiles pattern.

I wanted to create more storage so we filled in the space between the bathroom sink and the tub, creating an edge where i could have plants and candles. Its such a handy shelf to leave stuff on.

We also changed how the door was opening – initially was opening inside the bathroom so i decided to flip it and get it open outside the room. It made a huge difference to the space and functionality.

My bathroom vanity and mirrored cabinet are from IKEA – the two deep drawers house lots of my beauty essentials and the wall unit is ideal for storing a million and one things. My units are the IKEA HEMNES/RATTVIKEN Wash Stand with 2 drawers and the wall cabinet with mirror is called IKEA HEMNES Mirror cabinet with 1 door. They don’t only look good but store a multitude.

I am still to get some bathroom accessories, im looking for some colorful wall art, a storage shelf for the bath and some other bits to make it even more functional. Oh and pretty towels! Im so lacking in nice towels so this will be the mission for the winter sales.

I will probably do an updated bathroom accessories decor once I’ll be gathering a few bits, but for now this is the perfect bathroom for us.

Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions where to find cute and affordable bathroom accessories (and towels – im thinking H&M HOME, and House of Fraser).
