A story of love, beauty and coffee.
Coffee is a kaleidoscope of warm brown, red and amber hues, that are intense, yet bright and versatile. Powders, nail lacquers, lipsticks… every product is encased in optical white packaging with red decorative elements, because red is the color of Illy’s logo and white is the color of its iconic cup. The starring role goes to the delicate heart designed by Max Petrone, symbolizing an all-consuming, earth-shattering passion.
I have been telling you all about the Italian beauty brand Collistar in the past, praising its excellent body products for firming and slimming. Now i had the chance to play with its latest makeup collection – an autumnal collaboration between Collistar and the Illy Coffee brand. The result is a beautiful, rich and warm collection of coffee toned products meant to enhance the natural beauty.
The highlights of the collection are for me, hands down, the lipsticks and eye shadow palettes. If you are looking for neutral eye shadows with a twist, the limited edition palettes in Caffe Freddo and Caffe Caldo might hit the spot. Not overly intense, the pigmentation feels soft to the touch and leaves a satin sheen on to the lids. Not shimmery or sparkly, just a silky blendable wash of color. Caffe Freddo is a deeper palette, similar to a dark roast with taupe undertones while Caffe Caldo is a warm, pink tinged neutral brown.
The lipsticks are rich and sensual, beautiful coffee shades that mimic the intensity of coffee. Im partial to the odd brown lipstick, however the stunning red Espresso stole my heart. Long lasting without being drying, a vibrant warm red that will make anything you are wearing look sophisticated. I just adore it!
The nail lacquers are shiny and long lasting: im currently typing away without a chip, almost five days since ive last painted my nails. Two coats, ensured a glossy opaque finish.
Apparently the bronzing powders are the star products of the collection, you can choose from a Medium or Dark Roast color. Initially i was reticent in trying the Medium Roast as it seemed overly shimmery but i was very pleasantly surprised with a bendable, warm and sun kissed color on my cheeks. I even skip the blush and just add a touch of shimmery highlighter and im done with my sculpting.
I would personally give a miss to the liquid eyeliner – stunning color, dreadful brush and formula and to the eyebrow pencil – its more suitable as an all over cream eye shadow rather than brow product.
Have you tried anything from Collistar yet? Would love to hear your thoughts.
