Clinique Superdefense SPF 40 Gel Review – Anti Fatigue and 1st Signs of Aging
When i heard that my adored is getting an update, my heart did sank a tiny bit. I mean how could one, improve on perfection? I have been wearing this moisturizer on and off for the last seven years. We are going way back. I was lured in by the fact it was full of antioxidants and vitamins and the high sun protection. Seven years ago, having an SPF of 20 in a daily moisturizer was a big deal. I also loved that it was fragrance free and i could get an oil free version (3,4) for my combination skin. It never broke me off, it sat beautifully under my makeup and frankly, it was something that i could rely on for not letting me down. Like i said, perfection!

My favorite thing about this moisturizer is the fact that is a very good hydrator with a decent broad spectrum sun protection. The high SPF 40 means that i don’t necessarily have to layer additional sun screen for my daily incidental sun exposure. Its a brilliant every day, city life moisturizer. That’s actually what i love about products: they are effective and functional.
The gel cream texture feels nourishing and weightless on my combination skin. It leaves a semi matte finish to the face, perfect for makeup application. Its also a brilliant base to layer additional products on like an extra SPF, primer, foundation and so on. A little goes a long way, so i can see myself getting at least two months out of the 50ml pot.
In terms of anti-aging properties, nothing is more effective than a daily high sunscreen. Its the best habit that everyone in the pursuit of healthy skin should incorporate in their routine. The blend of antioxidants fight the free radicals as it occurs. I love to add a vitamin C serum underneath for maximum antioxidant protection.
