8 SUPPLEMENTS I TAKE EVERY DAY FOR HEALTH AND BEAUTY
I often have lengthy conversations in my Instagram DM’s about the 8 supplements i take everyday for health and beauty. I am not a doctor or a healthcare professional, so always consult your own practitioner if in doubt. My passion for healthcare started when i worked in the OTC dispensary of a pharmacy many years ago. I even taken an over the counter medicine 6 months course to get a better understanding of what i was advising clients in the chemist.
One of my favorite hobbies is to read health related books. And to listen to podcasts that talk about alternative ways of achieving optimal health. I also have autoimmune Hashimoto so i feel that sometimes i need a boost to feel better.
Having listened to many health practitioners, i compiled a list of supplements that every woman could benefit from taking. Again, this is something that i take and works for me – so always do your own research.
8 SUPPLEMENTS I TAKE EVERY DAY FOR HEALTH AND BEAUTY
General Health
Multivitamins – After loads of reading i decided to start taking Alive! for my multivitamins. I love that it blends high strength vitamins and minerals with actual fruit and vegetable extracts. I love following Shabir – leading pharmacist from Victoria Health, he is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to general health and supplementation. He always recommended the Alive! brand and i have to say that taking them it boosted my levels ten fold. Because of my Hashimoto thyroid i have to do my blood tests every six months. Usually being on the lower side of iron, b vitamins and folate. After taking the vitamins i was within the optimal range. I even got my five year old on the kids version.
Probiotics – Everything starts with the gut, so taking a good probiotic is very important. There is a lot of talk about how a healthy gut can promote a better overall health. Alongside a good diet rich in natural probiotics and live cultures, its good to take a good quality probiotic. For the last year i have taken religiously Alflorex Probiotics and it made a big impact on how my tummy felt. Withing two weeks the bloating dissapeared and i generally felt better. I would love to try Symprove at some point this year to diversify the cultures.
Fish Oil – Taking a good quality fish oil is brilliant for our overall brain, skin and joint health. Besides eating an oily fish like salmon at least once a week, i am supplementing with MorEpa fish oils. Fish oils is something that everyone should take. It can help with skin hydration, joint suppleness and brain health – memory and concentration.
Vitamin D3 – Another good daily supplement that everyone should take, specially living in a country like Ireland. I have been seriously deficient in vitamin D a few years ago and ive been taking a daily supplement ever since. It boosts my immune system, mood and overall health.

I have started taking the brand, i just love how they come in powder form so i can easily add them to drinks or smoothies. Im particularly fond of the creamers, a good addition to my morning coffee. Altrient Liposomal Vitamin C 1000mg – One of the best ways of keeping the immune system healthy and having a glowing skin is to take a liposomal Vitamin C. The way they are processed makes them best absorbed than the usual capsule or tablet. My skin always looks radiant when i take them and they have a proven anti age effect on fine lines and wrinkles.
Hormones and Mood
Magnolia Rhodiola – The mix of a year long pandemic, lock-down and general winter SAD left me a bit anxious and not in the best of moods. Again taking Shabir’s advice ive decided to try an adaptogen like Magnolia Rhodiola. The root helps to lower cortisol levels, help the body to deal with stress and improve and elevate mood. Its the type of supplement that you can take on and off trough out the year. I personally found that it did help a lot, my moods were better and i haven’t felt that annoying anxious feeling in my chest as soon as i woke up.
Starflower Oil and Primrose Oil – Another good supplement for women to take. When i don’t take them i usually have the PMS from hell. So for my own sanity and the well-being of my family, i try to not miss a day. It seems to balance my hormones, so my mood doesn’t fluctuate as much.
