Foundation Routine ft. Clinique, Chanel and MAC

Foundation Routine: Chanel, Clinique and Mac IMG_9431 Lately i have tried to keep my skin fresh and luminous, avoiding heavy matte textures. Probably because im crossing a ‘good skin’ period and im just going to milk it as much as possible.

Im starting my base with the new SuperPrimer from Clinique – i went for the Universal version, but there are a Redness, Radiance or even one for Pigmented skin to choose from, so it can be easy customized to your own personal needs. Im not one to use a primer daily as i find that the slippery texture annoying, but i found the Universal to be more creamy, with a balm type texture so it instantly blurs out fine lines and pesky pores. I focus on the t-zone because that’s the area im most oily.

Next, my base of choice is the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in shade 030. Initially i got it for my wedding day, but kinda forgot about it and went for the Dior Nude. After giving a good shake, i use my buffing brush to lightly layer it all over my face, adding extra in areas where need it. I find that using a kabuki/buffing type brush gives a more even, flawless look as opposite to using your fingers (tried it and it just sits on the skin). The texture is light and fresh, smells incredible and gives a gorgeous dewy finish, true to the ‘skin perfecting’ description.

Lastly, i set up my foundation with a light dust of my old favorite MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Medium. Again, using a Real Techniques Buffing Brush (have about 3!) i gently buff the powder all over my skin. Somehow it manages to keep shine at bay, add an extra fine layer of coverage and look luminous. Perfection!

What is your base routine? xo

Loving the sounds of the Clinque primers, if it helps my red cheeks I would be in! And can’t beat a good MAC Skinfinish!

The redness one is amazing, instantly brightens the skin! Its not colored and doesn’t conceal, has optical pigments that tone down redness.

I really need to pick up the Clinique primer for redness, in the winter my beetroot skin is a nightmare

Lovely routine! I’m not using my yellow primer as much, wish I’d got this one now!

I have never tried any Chanel foundations before, do you by any chance know if this one is okay for all skin types? I ahve dry skin, so I find my options are a little more limited…

Yes, it is fine for dry skins. It’s water based so it will hydrate and look flawless. I’m oily combo so sometimes i need to set it with powder to prevent shine.
