Products I Use To Keep My Highlighted Hair Soft and Bright

One thing that im always asked about on my different social media profiles is my hair. The color of it in particular, mainly because that even when my natural roots were 6 months undone, my blonde was still looking clean, bright and ashy. Even my hairdresser commented that is looking surprisingly good considering how long ive left it between my appointments.

My secret is simple: a good haircare regime and a brilliant purple toning shampoo. I have a couple of favorite brands that i kept repurchasing trough out the three years of me being blonde (i went from jet black, seven years of box dye build up to this ashy toned, clean blonde – you can see my brunette self here) and i still like to try new products just to keep things fresh.

I tend to wash my hair every three days, i have so much of it and it is certainly a hassle to dry it and style. Plus i dont think it suits my processed hair to wash it too often. Usually a spritz of the Aussie Volume Dry Shampoo (best dry shampoo ever) saves the day.

To keep my hair nourished and soft and to minimize breakage, im currently using the new Joico Blonde Life Brightening Shampoo, Conditioner and Mask. This is a beautiful haircare system for blonde hair, as the name suggests, that leaves a gorgeous shine and softness. With blonde hair, naturally getting a shine is quite hard as the hair color doesn’t reflect the light as it does for brunettes so i was pleasantly surprised to catch a sheen after i blow dried. The texture of the shampoo is one of a clear gel, which means the roots will be lifted and your hair wont be weighted down. Honestly a lovely range if you are looking for a change.

I have also used and loved trough out the years, with countless repurchases the Pureology Hydrate Line and the Kerastase Resistance range.

Purple shampoo is a crucial part of my routine and the main reason my hair remains ashy and bright. I used successfully in the past purple shampoos from Bleach London (review here), Alfaparf (review here) and Joico (review here) but i think i finally found THE ONE. I present you the L’Oreal Silver Shampoo, 250ml choc full of ultra violet pigment that will give you the ashiest and brightest tone ever. I tend to leave it on about 20 minutes every third wash and i swear that i get compliments next day if i got my hair done. I will never be without! Neutralizes any yellow or orange that might reside in your hair, banishing brassiness in just one go.

If im in a rush and don’t have the time for purple shampoo, i just pop over this Colour Refresher Live from Schwarzkopf. Again, a product ive been repurchasing and using for years (see here), you can get it in Boots for about €6 and usually on promotion too. It is a conditioner toner mousse that will gently brighten and nourish at the same time. As long as ill be a blonde i will have a couple of these in my bathroom cabinet (see me talking about them here too).

What products do you swear by when it comes to blonde hair, i am always trying to strengthen my overly processed hair. And also, is it getting your hair ‘done’ or ‘did’? I just cant wrap my head around it, ‘did’ sounds so very wrong!
