2017 Makeup Favorites

My 2017 Makeup Favorites are a mixed bunch of new products launched during the year and just old favorites rediscovered. During the years i haven’t been as hungry for new releases, i suppose as i get older i just know what works for me and tend to stick to what i like rather than jumping on the next bandwagon.

That said there were some notable new additions to my makeup collection that really did a difference and dare i say it, made me look and feel better.

 

W A R M   N E U T R A L   E Y E S H A D O W S

HUDA BEAUTY WARM BROWN OBSESSIONS EYESHADOWS PALETTE – You can read my review here, this little palette has been a firm favorite since i purchased it. Small and slim packaging, it still packs a punch with nine wearable and pigmented shades. You can buy it .

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS MODERN RENAISSANCE – there’s a theme emerging here as you can tell, 2017 was the year of warm rusty eyeshadows for sure! You can see my full review of the palette here, i have it in my collection two years now and im still very much in love as the first time i got it. Hands down one of the best eyeshadows out there, i managed to use every single shade at some point or another. You can buy it .

URBAN DECAY BASICS 1 EYESHADOW PALETTE – in my whole blogger lifetime (the whole eight years of it) i only managed to hit pan on one single eyeshadow palette. The UD Basics 1 being the one. Its so good: wearable, matte neutral brown eyeshadows. I traveled the world with it, well maybe not the world but a couple holidays for sure. During their Black Friday Sale i got the Basics 2 eyeshadows too and the love is going strong. Its the type of colors that you just pop it on without too much thought. One thing i will have to mention is that it seems the formula has changed. Whilst the colors are the same, they do go on as well as my older versions. The texture seems more dry and matte and not as buttery as my old palette. The Venus highlighter is nothing like the previous one, the sheen is gone and it went more flat. Dare i say it they took a turn for worse but i would still reach for it most days. You can buy it .

 

 

T H E  B E S T  E Y E L I N E R  AN D  S I N G L E  E Y E S H A D O W

CLINIQUE PRETTY EASY LIQUID EYELINER PEN – as the name suggests it, the liner is pretty easy to use. Designed with sensitive eyes in mind and fragrance free, this liner was the only one i constantly used and repurchased trough out the year. The felt tip is so handy for a winged look, it just follows the lash line and the formula is long lasting without being irritating. I just adore it! You can buy it.

URBAN DECAY SINGLE EYESHADOW in RIFF – if im in a hurry and dont have time to layer five different shades of eyeshadow, im always reaching out for my Riff eyeshadow. A matte warm brown that can create a smokey soft look in one go. This shade and the black liner and im good to go, looking like i made an effort with my look despite only spending 5 seconds on it. M O S T   U S E D   F O U N D A T I O N S

BARE MINERALS ORIGINAL POWDER – BM were the revelation of 2017! Such a beautiful brand, i cant believe it took me so long to try it out. I love the original powder foundation so much i went trough two pots already. My shade is Medium Beige, i mostly use it when im off but still want to wear a bit of coverage. The sheen and glow that gives your skin is unreal, the coverage perfect and i will never be without it now. I invested in more Bare Minerals products, cant wait to tell you all about them! LANCOME TEINT IDOLE ULTRA WEAR – i have been wearing this foundation since it was launched a couple of years ago. If your skin is oily combination and like a medium to full coverage, semi matte foundation you are on to a winner with the Teint Idole Ultra. Shade wise im always either 03 in summer and 023 in winter, their shade selection is quite good so plenty to choose from. You can buy it .

THE ORDINARY COVERAGE FOUNDATION – funny story with this one, i firstly got the wrong shade so i just hated it. It sited awkwardly on my skin and made me look ill. Then i decided to give it another try and ordered the shade 2.0N and my whole makeup world was rocked! Great coverage, long lasting, semi matte yet radiant this foundation is just awesome. Probably rich in silicone and just glides effortless on the skin perfecting it. I love applying it with my Beauty Blender, i think you get the best finish this way. You can buy it .

 

 

T H E   B E S T   M A K E U P   B R U S H E S

ZOEVA MAKEUP BRUSHES – another Black Friday purchase, this time two years ago. The best makeup brushes ive tried, the quality, the look and the price are incredible and im slowly working into having quite the collection. So far i have accumulated a couple of their face brushes and i need to get started on the eye ones. They wash beautifully and look as new even after two years of daily use. My first two ones were photographed dirty, i just didn’t have the time or patience to clean them before taking the photo. I also love that their sizes run small, so you can get right in there with contour and buffing. You can buy them .

 

 

G L I T T E R   E Y E S

STILA MAGNIFICENT METALS – my favorite launch of the year! Thanks to my bestie Mags, im really starting to develop a brand crush for Stila. You should check out her blog, Mags is the Stila Queen! Somehow Stila managed with the Magnificent Metals to create a super glittery, shimmery eye look that isnt messy and is super easy to use. The effect is always wow and all you have to do is just use the applicator – the formula does all the work for you! I always layer it with powder eyeshadows, i apply some glitter and then finish it off with my liquid eyeliner. I have the shades Rose Gold and Kitten Karma and i just adore them. This is the overview done for another year, i will link below the Favorites of the previous years if you want to check them out as well. In 2018 i will be trying to do a bit more effort with my look, get more adventurous and get stuck in more product reviews. What was you most used product last year, would love to hear!

2017 Favorites are listed in my story, these are hands down the most used makeup products last year. It was all about the eyes, swapping up boring browns with spicier warmer tones and creating flawless, long lasting bases.
