Bravura London Chemical Exfoliators and Skincare Review

I suppose it is kinda late now for a Happy New Year, but here you have it – my first post of 2017. Starting off confessional style, its been almost three months since my last post. Three months of house renovation, baby sickness, long retail working hours and countless moving boxes, we finally made it to the other end in one piece.

During all this hectic time, one thing remained a constant: my new skincare routine. Since i got sent the Bravura chemical exfoliators and skincare range i remained diligent to the system. One must have something to hold on in stressful times and for me it was my chemical exfoliators.

Bravura London is a leading UK supplier of home use chemical exfoliators that give salon results in the comfort of your own home. A chemical exfoliator, if you aren’t familiar with the term, is a more effective way to get rid of dead cells than classic scrubs. They loosen the bond holding on the dead skin and help dead layers to gently fall away, revealing a new healthy skin.

After a initial online consultation i asked for something with an anti age edge. It was my 33rd Birthday this month so i wanted something that will make me look more refreshed and radiant. Well as radiant as one can be moving boxes and dealing with sleepless nights.

I got sent a package consisting of the First Cleanse Oil, the Revitalising Ginseng Toner, 10% Glycolic Acid, 10% Lactic Acid, Application Brush, Azulene Moisturiser and Hyaluronic Acid. My prescription was to use the acids every other evening, alternating between Glycolic and Lactic and moisturize every day with the Hyaluronic Acid and the Azulene Moisturiser. For example Monday glycolic, Wednesday lactic, Friday glycolic and so on and forth. Also it was stressed not to use any other scrubs or exfoliators during the treatment and apply a high SPF during the day.

How I Got On

Initially i followed the every other day recommendation when it came to the peels and that didn’t panned out too well. After my third use, ive developed a red patch on my right cheek and one broken capillary was starring me in the eye. I need to stress that this wasn’t the products fault, i just needed to build up my resistance to it and probably my skin got a shock. I had a break from the acids for about 10 days and left my skin recover – it went back to normal without any marks, broken capillary included and just used the Cleansing Oil, the Toner, the Hyaluronic Acid and the Azulene moisturiser.

When my skin got back to normal, i made my own routine with the acids: Sunday Glycolic and Wednesday Lactic and got on tremendously well. After cleansing and toning, i would apply a few drops of the either acids with the brush provided for an even application, leave it on for 5-10 min (just observe your skin) and then wash it out and moisturise. My skin has become more radiant and brighter after each use and has got a lovely clarity to it. It appears more even and refined, whilst my pigmentation has significantly faded.

The Hyaluronic Acid has become a daily addiction, a tiniest amount is needed to cover my face and neck for a boost of hydration. The bottle comes in a hefty 50ml and despite using it daily for the last two months, i haven’t even used half the bottle.

Following the Hyaluronic Acid is the Azulene Moisturiser. I never seen a blue tinged moisturiser before and was concerned it is going to make me look like a cast member from Avatar, fear not it didnt. I asked for a light weight cream suitable for a oily combination skin and this is what i received. Azulene felt nourishing and emollient, without any greasiness and it was an excellent makeup base.

The Cleansing Oil and Revitalising Toner were ok, honestly if you have a favorite cleansing routine you could live without them. The Ginseng toner is meant to prepare the skin to receive and deal with the acids, but most toners would balance the skins PH anyway.

If i would recommend something whole heartily it would be the actual Acids – being Glycolic or Lactic. They really made a difference and are easy to use once you got your regime and routine right. They come in a 30ml glass bottle and are very affordable at £9.59.

Have you tried any chemical peel treatments? Im afraid im addicted now!

Poor you, the last months seem to have been horrible. We had colds and sleepless nights, but thankfully no move on top.
Acids are a staple in my skincare routine, I use gentle ones (5%) almost daily and stronger ones like the ones you mentioned about twice a week. Mainly glycolic, but sometimes lactic and quite a few times salicylic, to help prevent spots.
